Hi, guys it is time to change a gearbox on my e92 n52b25, got a great offer on gearbox, flywheel and clutch from a n43b20 engine in a really good condition, my only question is, is it going to fit? or those are different?
After 6 months of topping up the oil on my second hand E90 318i I have just noticed in the service invoice from the dealer that there are 2 serious problems that they failed to tell me about.
Sump Gasket leaking oil
Cover Gasket leaking oil
According to these guys they renewed the timing belt and Head Gasket prior to sale which helped the deal, now I'm stuck with these major repairs 6 months later.
What do you suggest? It's done 67k now so fair enough. I just renewed the alternator few months ago too (I presume that went because of wearing from the old timing belt).
Now I'm looking to get these 2 repairs. What do I do?
I'm based in South London. Is there a garage someone can recommend? What sort of prices am I looking at? Are these something I can do DIY (limited experience here).
Sorry for the long post, want to share my somewhat frustrating experience with you for context!
This regards the e9x series I don't know if it effects the others. So from what I understand they used a down counter in software that is set to 29 or 39 after that many oil changes the reminder cannot be reset. I have seen some threads where people tried to us tool32 to change the Intervals for the reminder and even try to reset the down counter but these don't seem to be effective. Any further info on how to make it work again. Apparently BMW has a TSB that disables it when this happens they don't or can't fix it.
