Hello Nathan I'm a very big follower and a fan of you in the uk
I know this is an old post but I hope you can reply back.
Iv got a bmw x5 e53 3.0i 2001, spent a lot of money on this vehicle but I love.
6 months ago I was doing a lot of work on it pluse a full custom spray job, was used very little if not hardly used, very religious in changing oil and filters ect, done an oil change with forte flush and a oil filter, topped up with castrol titanium edge 5w30, decided then to give it a good run.
Noticed on day 2, they was a tapping noise from the drivers side slightly on cold then disappeared untill engine was fully warm and was tapping even quicker on acceleration.
Was advised by bmw specialist it was the lifters, I purchased the lifters FEBI brand and the company replaced all 24 lifters with an oil treatment and new rocker coiver ect.
Noise completely went on cold but was told they was a slight noise still there but only when car is fully warm now, not as bad like they said but still there slightly and hear it more when I put the window down, specially when I come to a stand still.
Any further advice please, I have called the bmw specialist and they said they could be A lazy lifter faulty one, been advise to give it a fair few 100 miles and noise should sort its self out, is this true?
I have spent a lot of money on this car I can't think of anything else.
