I have this X5 that I love. 94k miles. I'm not rich but I could afford to spend $7-12k on it over the next 5 years if I could get 75k more miles out of it. There is currently an issue either in the turbos, cats or just 02 sensors. I'd definitely love any thoughts you guys have on it. A month ago after putting about 600 miles on it in one day I got a really strong caustic smell in the cabin. It wasn't really a rotten egg smell but it smelled more chemical or metal. It eventually threw a P0420 code so I parked it over night. The next morning the smell was even worse but after having the car towed, it got fainter but still lingers very lightly. Cat temps seem to be doing ok so I kept driving it. I kept driving it local or up to 80 miles a day and it did fine but day after a 250 mile road trip, it threw the below codes. I'm curious what your plan of action would be. Turbos? Turbo coolant lines? Cat Delete? O2 sensors? Or should I just send it to auction? Another issue is that the N63 has the other associated issues and I just don't want to feed it cash forever. What are the chances it will need rod bearings before 175k miles?
